This Privacy Policy describes how Poker Coach ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and associated services.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you register and use the app:
- Account information: Username, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — never in plain text)
- Profile data: Age, gender, preferred poker variant, and display name
- Learning progress: Completed lessons, scenario results, quiz scores, XP, level, and streak data
- Usage data: Daily task completions, AI coach chat sessions (messages are processed in real time and not stored long-term)
- Device information: Basic device type and operating system for app compatibility
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to operate and improve Poker Coach:
- Create and manage your account
- Track your learning progress and personalise your experience
- Power the AI coaching feature (Gemini API — messages are sent to Google's API for processing)
- Send account-related emails (verification codes, password resets)
- Improve the app based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
Third-Party Services
Poker Coach uses the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini API — AI coaching responses. Messages you send to the coach are forwarded to Google's Gemini API for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to this data.
- Email service — Used to send verification and password reset emails. No marketing emails are sent.
Data Storage & Security
- All data is stored on secure servers. Passwords are hashed using Argon2id — we cannot recover your password.
- Authentication uses short-lived JWT access tokens (15 minutes) and rotating refresh tokens (7 days).
- All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
- We do not store payment card details — payment processing is handled by Apple App Store and Google Play.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is soft-deleted immediately — your profile, progress, and personal information become inaccessible and are scheduled for permanent deletion within 30 days.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data via the profile settings in the app
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time (see the Account Deletion page)
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account
Children's Privacy
Poker Coach is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
